Where is the best place to buy a 45 quart-55 quart ice chest in San Pedro? My beer will really appreciate it!!!!!!
Well, so with the water and coke!!
Why waste valuable room on water and coke?
azbob, I bought an Igloo ice chest from Castillo's Hardware several years back. If I remember correctly, I paid about $65.00 US for it........about 3 times what it would cost in the US.
I just bought two from Castillo 120.bz each, what a deal. In the past the price on the island was much higher and truly 120. bz seems cheap no matter what they cost in the states.
You could buy one in the states a lot cheaper,Enjoy a little shopping spree at Walmart, take it down to the Mississippi river, stick you feet in while the cold rain drizzles on your head and just enjoy the heck out of you cheap cooler.
Is my attitude showing again?

Maybe a little.......but I agree 100%!
Azbob, some people buy them at home and use them as luggage. Duct tape is your friend in that case.
We brought some down that have wheels and a pull handles. (purchased at Sams Club)
Elbert agree, I was not looking for cheap. I bought one down there 5 years ago and it is time for a replacement. Heck back then it was $50 US. I wanted to know who has them now and it looks like the usual players.
Seashell, I consider buying and hauling down, but need luggage also for return. Any how, don't know TSA would consider duck tape these days. Luggage is not supposed to be locked. Mine usually gets inspected and I have the "Notice" inside. Well maybe they keep extra duct tape around to re-tape after inspection, but I doubt it.
Thanks everyone for your input.
Bob, I was thinking of bringing down a tote with me and had the same question as to how to secure it. I've been told to do it with a web belt supposedly sold at Home Depot that can be unfastened and refastened easily by TSA. I would be surprised if they didn't have some kind of tape for situations like this, but then again it is TSA.
I decided against this for the moment and I hope that I can find some totes either in SP or BC. I have bought a small cooler (expensive) in SP at one of the hardware stores I believe.
Bob & Jim, I use a pair of these on my big cooler when I fish the East Cape...TSA approved
Lockable Luggage Strap
Thank you, I've never seen one like this before.
Bear!! Ya!! That strap is the bomb. I have one too, tho' mine is an understated gray.
And yes, the duct tape idea .. . erm . . . sorry, my bad.
as for using the cooler for luggage, I didn't mean for it to be your only bag. You could use it for consumables. Shampoos, lotions, crackers, whatever . . . Put a suitcase in it, hee hee
SP hardware has a decent selection of coolers.
I have a soft one I can loan you but it is an 'outdoor' one as it tends to leak when the ice starts melting.
We routinely bring coolers BACK as luggage... buy one or two lashing straps to keep them closed... TSA will open them, look inside and lash them back. Take a sharpie and write on the cooler "No Dry Ice" and you will satisfy all the requirements for the airline. West Marine sells the Igloo Marine model which seem a tad better than your Walmart ones... 54 qt Igloo Marine Elite = 69.99. You could always though go for the $400 Yeti one to ensure your beer stays cold for a week...

Is that a Jewish ice chest
Al, I don't think the Abominable Snowman is Jewish, maybe Hindu or Buddhist!!!!!!
Jeff, that is one hell of a cooler, but the "pay back" is way to long for me!!!

Jeff good call on the dry ice...btw that $400 Yeti is sized about right for a 6-pack if I recall correctly
...well maybe a "bit" bigger (considerably)...man those puppies are $$$$...
The Wings store has coolers
