Thinking about our trip to AC this July. I was wondering about the use of travelers checks. Are they readibly accepted and are there any fees charged for cashing them? Thanks for your replies.

When you use traveller checks its like you are using US cash. Any place you go they accept them and no fee is charged. The only places that won't accept traveller checks are the small grocery stores.

Be sure to keep your travelers checks DRY. I had a bunch of American Express travelers checks one time that got wet (still perfectly readable,just a bit damp) and nobody would take them. Apparently, water and even dampness obliterates some kind of anti fraud watermark. Get a waterproof pouch for your travelers checks.
