Dhal is a type of flatbread, in this case I use flour tortilla, Roti is the more inexpensive form of this meal, while Puri is the more elegant form. I do believe what I've made here is the Dhal Puri, but in Belize I knew it as Dhal Roti. I love flour tortilla and split peas, so pairing them just seems natural.

Why we cannot get good Goat Roti in Belize I do not know. You could eed the masses and they would be back every day for more. Real Jamaican Beef Patties as well. If they can do them so well what is stopping an industry popping up here and serving Central America.

Just so. With pupusas being as popular as they are you'd think Belizeans would have jumped all over the variations on roti as a street food and menu staple.

We had a place selling patties in Belize City for quite a while and one of my Trini friends does great roti every week per orders

In PG we have several ladies who make dhai roti and sell door to door. Excellent!!!
