Thats why God made Texas, Otter!
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 06:16 PM
Oh, that's why??? Geeze, and all this time I thought it was to keep the rest of the country from being disturbed by Spurs' whooohoooing.

I knew there had to be a reason . . . I thought it was so the scorpions and fire ants had a place to live!! grin

Thank you Marty. It ain't 12 inches. But not everyone can sport 12 inches like Otter can smile

You say snow sucks, but go to one of the primary schools in town and ask the kids if they would like to visit, see and touch snow - there would be a surge of bodies taking up the offer!

Our kids are so intrigued by snow, and most won't ever have the opportunity to actually ever see/touch it.
Posted By: Amanda Syme Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 06:38 PM
pnowell - anybody jumping into that hot tub tonight? Polar plunge Dallas 2008!
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 06:39 PM
Good point Amanda. I have to keep telling myself that I am fortunate, I enjoy the seasons changing and that's why I live where I do, but come March, I must say it starts to wear thin.
Posted By: travelqueen Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 06:40 PM
Otter, lmao!!! You funny!

Posted By: Ernie B Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 06:58 PM
Dallas does not count, its Waaay up north, almost in Oklahoma! Just depends on the wind direction.
Posted By: carbunkletrumpet Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 07:05 PM
Sweet if it snows in Dallas then it will happen in Memphis too! We have prepared for "White Death '08" and have plenty of bread, milk and of course beer and Vodka!

Amanda - you want to see something funny have one of the resident Cananadians try to explain the game ice hockey to a school aged kid.

We live about 35 miles South of Little Rock, AR. We currently have about 8 inches of snow and it is still falling! About an hour ago we had thunder snow! Needless to say, the entire area has come to a standstill!
Posted By: Amanda Syme Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 09:51 PM
What's thunder snow? Like a thunder and lightning storm with snow fall?

Posted By: KC Jayhawk Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 09:53 PM
precisely . . it's rare to hear thunder in a snowstorm, but it happens. You generally don't see the lightning, tho.
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/07/08 10:24 PM
Just got home. What's typically s 20 minute commute was 70 minutes this evening. Total accumulation by this time tomorrow is slated to be 12-14 inches. whooohooo!
Posted By: PalapaBob Re: Snow Sux - 03/08/08 12:23 AM
Just saw the weather report Otter, please keep the snow down around you. Up here in East Lansing it doesn't look we'll be shoveling! Get it all cleaned up before the MSU bball team comes to town Sunday!
Posted By: klcman Re: Snow Sux - 03/08/08 12:36 AM
Thunder/lightning snow, a friend from another life told me, is a harbinger of things to come. Look out! A monster snow storm will follow inside of 14 days. I've watched this over the years and it's amazing how often it comes to bear.

Otter - wanna use those "vouchers" NOW????
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/08/08 12:39 AM
hell ya -- time to get outta Dodge

Bob -- <sniff,sniff> I'm smelling upset

Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/08/08 12:57 AM
hell hath no fury like a Buckeye scorned -- you're on. You forget, I'm getting pretty used to losing bets.

Then we'll double it Friday at the Big Ten tourney!

We are cold here in S. Texas../ all of 35 degrees.......
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/08/08 04:53 PM
Can't beat Sean and Kathy for sure. However, the Columbus record for 24-hour snowfall is 12.3 inches. We're at 10 and counting with quite a bit more to go.

Good and Bad about snow in Dallas.

Good is it all gone now.

Bad is I had to do yard work this morning.

Oh well it could be worse. We could live in Houston...

Hey! I live in Kentucky. Gateway to the south. 10 inches of snow and blizzard warnings for tonight and 8 degrees. In March. As Dylan said, what global warming, I'm freezing.

Beautiful here on Sunset Blvd. at the Pacific Coast Highway next to the LAFD Station 23 with the Pacific Ocean as my front yard. I'm so glad I'm not in Geauga County. I get shivers when I see the weather on the news. This is the second year I haven't been in snow and I love it. Never again if I can help it and the good Lord willing.

Just got done shoveling the drive way for the 4th time today, finally stopped snowing here in Dayton, Ohio.
Final tally 14" since yesterday, all I can say is S.O.B.!!
Time to crack open the Rum I bought back from A.C.
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/08/08 10:34 PM
I'm with ya J. We'll be done here in the next couple hours. Don't have a final tally yet here in NE Columbus, but I'm guessing about 15"

Posted By: PalapaBob Re: Snow Sux - 03/08/08 10:37 PM
Lucky you!
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/09/08 03:36 PM
Final storm tally for Columbus was 20.4" -- a record for sure. I don't thinkI got quite that just north of town here, but after 15" does it really matter?
Posted By: Otteralum Re: Snow Sux - 03/09/08 03:36 PM
That's what she said.
