Cataract surgery BZ City? to do or not to do? Looking for feedback from anyone w/recent experience or information (post 2009/using laser technique). Successes, failures, war stories much appreciated. Have to decide quickly!

I would recommend Dr. Valdez as his education and skills as the only retinologist/ surgeon in Belize. I believe I would feel safer with a specialist than a general practioner, I have heard lots of stories about Hoye, not many good. Cateract surgery is pretty simple and I am sure Hoye does a good job, but when things go wrong patients end up with Dr. Valdez to correct. Valdez cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for, in my opinion the man is a geniuous, after spending over $10 k, here and in the U.S. 3 hospital stays knowone could dignoise an illness I had several yrs ago. I also had lost most my vision with the high fevers etc. He after 4 months of illness gave me a proper dignosis.
I had both my eyes done by Dr. Hoy and I would totally recommend him. I was a tough case and i have had no trouble at all since. I don't even need readers anymore. He was fantastic!
