\:\) We are packing for our first dive trip to Ambergris Caye for Dec 20. At this time of year, what are most divers wearing? Is a lycra skin warm enough? Also, we are staying at Mayan Princess- any advice or info on that hotel? - rdy2dive \:\)

3 mil. might be more comfortable. We use a lycra and a 3 mil top in March, but then again she likes to be warm. We have been there twice and going back next March. Mayan Princess fits our needs very well. You are in the middle of San Pedro so everything you may need is just a short walk away. The San Pedro Rotary has a BBQ once a week and is just across the street. We took it, and a few Belikins, back to our balcony and had a delightful evening. Watch the fishermen when they come in. As they clean their fish the Rays come in to feed and you can see them very clearly from the balcony. Kind of neat. Try breakfast at Esteles. We eat there every morning. Be sure to say hello to Charlie, he will be playing solitare and, with his wife, is the owner.

During the day I like to just wear a rash shirt. At night, I wear a 3 mil. The Mayan Princess is great.

Thanks to all for your advice. We are getting so eager. We have only seen good reports on the Mayan Princess. We were lucky to be able to schedule a last minute trip to replace a canceled trip to Cozumel.
We are finishing choosing which dive gear today. We always wear full suits of some kind. We are going to pack our plain lycras and our fleece-lined and some 0.5mil skins. That way we can double up if need be. If you put the fleece-lined lycra over the plain lycra, I have found that to comfortable when others are wearing 3 mil. We have never been to that area in the winter before. I am now wishing we had taken the time to buy some 3 mil suits. Up here in WV, USA, we always need at least 5mil or 7mil So we have them, but they will be too much.
Thanks to all for the replys! \:\)

rdy2diveblz: heard Simon B is organizing a naked sky dive directly into the Blue Hole on Dec 23 He has 5 spots left on the plane. Contact him if your interested (directly). And by the way up here in Joisey our wet suits are 5 or 7 inches, not mil's. Have fun! I hear klcman is the moderator on the flight over!

LOL, I will settle for just being down in the water to watch them fly in. I would have to get used to using a dry suit in NJ.
