(By Lorne) - Jolene the GRUMPY one (smile) and I the HAPPY one (smile) are a family that decided to make a change of lifestyle. From a career in Police for Lorne and a secretarial Career for Jolene we now have taken a totally different life path. We chose the Dive Instruction and Snorkeling industry because we both love the water and the active lifestyle. We've been married for almost 25 years (MARCH 2006) and are starting over again. We can tell you ... there are worse ways to make a living!
After completing extensive and challenging dive training in the best dive schools in the US and attaining the rating of Master Scuba Diver Trainers we moved to Belize. That was 8 years ago WITH our children to start a new life.
We chose Belize for many reasons. Beautiful reefs, love of the water, proximity to the US, The laid back lifestyle, diversity of the environment ( Jungles and Reefs ), the law was good for immigration. These are just a few of the reasons that influenced us.

(By Jolene) , the GRUMPY one and I, (the HAPPY ONE) founded our small family company here to provide quality, relaxed and fun private snorkel trips and private dive instruction. We wanted to get away from the 'rat race' in Canada and try something new. We needed a life change. We went to the best dive training school in the United States and took every course they offered and then - to Belize.

When we first came to Belize we worked for several local dive shops. We soon learned that volume on the boat was what the dive shops wanted. We understand that, but just not what we wanted. We wanted to enjoy what we did, not see how many we could get on the boat, how many students, or how many trips in a day. We are not a dive shop and are not into profit by numbers.
As a result we started our own private company called Grumpy and Happy.
What we offer is different and special. It can make a difference to you and your enjoyment of the experience. We add a personal touch to your time with us.
We only work privately with small groups, classes, families, or those that have SPECIAL NEEDS. We book only one excursion a day and have no schedule other than what we work out with you.

Snorkeling here on the barrier reef is fantastic. The color and fish .. wonderful. Especially with us in a uncrowded boat.

Consider renting Our Apartment. 2000 square feet of space with three bedrooms, free internet, 4 tv,s AC, and use of a private pool for your pleasure or for diving training. Great low rates in a great part of San Pedro.
Snorkelers and dive students can practice or learn right in the pool.
We even do refresher courses in the pool

Even though we may seem relaxed, we assure you that we do not sacrifice professionalism or safety. We maintain PADI's rigid safety Standards. We are all fully trained in CPR and FIRST AID and and have ALL safety gear and a full First Aid Kit on our vessel as well as an oxygen kit, cell phone and vhf radio. Our Standards are high!
The kids ?? one oldest daughter now manages a resort, Another daughter is a dive instructor (that we sent to the same dive schools we graduated from) and has given us our first grandson. Our son married a local girl, moved to Arizona and is doing well. He is working to be a Police Officer.
