What is the electrical system?

Same as the U.S. The standard service voltage is 110 and/or 220 volts, 60 cycles. Power is provided to the country by Belize Electricity Limited which supplies both households and businesses. Service is fair and it is necessary for hotels wanting to deliver luxury class service to install backup generators. Continuity of electricity is between 90% and 95%. The electricity rate is approximately US$0.33 per KWH.
