As for local internet service, the main long-time Internet Service Provicer in Belize is BTL, Belize Telecommunications Limited. The last few years, there is more use of satellite systems such as DirecWay or Starband.
Using BTL, web service is a real quick deal for local service, once you have a phone line. You apply for your account, pay and within 2 hours you can access E-mail and the Internet.

rePaid Internet
BTL's PrePaid Internet service allows you to connect to the Internet from any Internet-ready computer using a BTL PrePaid Internet Card. You get a FREE E-mail address at www.belizeweb.com . To access Prepaid Internet you dial 155.
The POP mail addressing is username@btlmail.btl.net, and the SMTP mail server address is btlmail.btl.net (used for both incoming and outgoing).
