SAN PEDRO MUSIC NEWS # 6, July
2004
Hello again everybody,
FIRST:
Our thoughts are with Tony Lee Ziesemer from
Texas, who unfortunately has had to cancel his band's shows at
Fido's in July due to a very serious medical condition. Please
join me in wishing Tony everything good and a fast recovery, so he can
get "back on the road again".
BLACK WAS BACK!
... and what a return it was! Now a good friend of
the island, Kevin brought his band down in June to introduce them to this
great little place.
The five-piece blew us away with a great show
and Marie English on keys; Floyd Callen on bass; Bret Nunez on the drums
and one of my new guitar heroes Ricky Jackson sure know the
drill...
Kevin Black with Island Original Paisano on
air-guitar.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
Due to the unfortunate circumstances mentioned
above and our "quiet" month of the year, we will not be presenting visiting U.S.
bands in July. We will however have some serious goodies ready for you
in August, and it is going to be rockin'!!!!
(did I hear someone say "The Hillbilly
Orchestra"? ...Well, let's see!)
LOCAL STARS
Our hard working friend Barefoot Skinny is back
from a well deserved vacation and will be entertaining us all at least
twice a week, of course with the great guitarist James "Howlin' Jaime" Storey
and other friends. Great shows!
OTHER GOOD NEWS
I can now confirm the many rumours about
the opening of world class recording studios on the island.
Yes, it is happening! Construction is starting now.
The studios will be located in the Mata Grande area, 4.5 miles north of town,
and will include state-of-the-art equipment for audio and video recording
and post-production plus wonderful little guest houses for the visiting artists,
producers and other good people. The facilities are expected to open in
March/April. If you want to know more about this, please feel free to contact me
for further information. See contact info below.
All for now, "see" you next month.
Y'all be good now!
