Great Horned Owl - Bubo virginianus at sunset
(originally named for Queen Elizabeth I, the "Virgin Queen")

Know what Bubo means?
buzzzzzzz..Times up!
Bubo comes from the Greek "boubon" meaning groin or 'swollen groin'. ......
So this poor bird Maya photographed is named, 'Swollen Groin of the virgin Queen Elizabeth'
And Bubba said Victorian ornithologist didn't have a sense of humor.
"I don't make this stuff up!"
