Pictures of the latest Cuban refugee boat that landed on north end of Ambergris Monday
A family of 9 made it across 700 miles of open ocean in this tub! It is made of sheet metal sealed at the laps with asphalt. The nail looking things sticking out are ¼ in bolts used to fasten the sheet metal in place of rivets. The diesel motor was removed by some locals after they landed and abandoned the ship to walk to Mexico.
One thing that they are not lacking are medicines..this boat was loaded with all sorts of pills etc which were in Spanish. They also had injectible dextrose in glass capsules, epinephrine, syringes and rehydration powders. The last boat which arrived a few months back had 4 bags of rehydration fluids.
