The Mouth of the Sarstoon River, Belize to the right, Guatemalan hills in the distance.
The first morning, a small 23‘ skiff from Punta Gorda Town carried us to the mouth of the Sarstoon River. Along the way we passed the southern most, and one of the oldest coastal village in Belize, the Garifuna community of Barranco. Small wooden dories and dugouts bobbed in the calm waters, fisherman hand-lined in the early morning light beside herons, pelicans and cormorants near the river entrance. As we entered the river mouth, the captain veered to the left, towards Guatemala.

A bit ago there was some controversy over our Sarstoon border line, even the Government seemed to be on Guatemala's side.. Well, see here ... Your borders are outlined and it clearly shows the Sarstoon Island on the Belizean side of the border line.
