If you're looking for a fun place with charming cabanas, a great open air poolside palapa bar and good friends to meet, you've found it at our hideaway...the Pink Motel! In 2006, we flipped a coin to pick a place for a tropical vacation…and Belize won! After spending a week on "La Isla Bonita", we fell in love with the island and its laidback lifestyle. Bob had always dreamed of owning a little island hotel. When I showed him my favorite childhood book, "The Pink Motel" by Carol Ryrie Brinks, we knew that we shared the same dream….and our adventure began! A return trip to Ambergris Caye led us to an old stone fort tucked on Pearl street, between the beach and the lagoon. When we stepped through the gate, we knew we had found our own "Pink Motel". To be honest, it was a mess…the former resort had been severely damaged by Hurricane Mitch. It desperately needed renovations and TLC, but we saw the potential to build our dream. Our friends and families thought that we'd gone loco. Maybe we had, but island life can do that to you! So, instead of going to the tropics and swinging in a hammock with a frozen drink in hand, we've been spending our "vacations" swinging a hammer! We're happy that the hard work is paying off, as the renovations and upgrades are almost complete, and we are ready for guests...as well as that frozen drink! We plan on moving to the island full time in 2012… in the meantime, we have a wonderful staff to help you feel at home. We welcome all our friends, current and future, to come share in our island dream. Coincidentally, 2012 is when the ancient Mayan Calendar ends. We like to think of it as our new beginning.
