Town Board developing park at Mar de Tumbo

Last Saturday the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and friends of San Pedro were busily removing broken botons (pilings), bottles and plastic trash from the beach at Mar de Tumbo. The work party (see photo) completed the first phase of creating a new multi-use park.

The land the park will occupy lies in a corridor between Banyan Bay Villas and Tropica Resort from the seaside to the road. A second portion of land located immediately across the road (Coconut Drive) is also part of the park and will be used for parking golf carts, and other vehicles. The current road into Mar de Tumbo will be closed to traffic.

Barbecue pits and palapas will be constructed in a picnicking area, another area, close to the beach will be used for a children's playground. Volunteers are welcome to come out and assist in preparing the park for everyone's enjoyment.
