The Master of Ceremonies for the commencement exercise was Mr. Donald Conners. He introduced Miss Candice Castillo, class salutatorian, to deliver the welcome address. She was followed by the invited speaker, Mr. Alfonso Castillo, manager of the San Pedro branch of the Belize Bank. Mr. Castillo encouraged the students to, "take this opportunity and make a worthwhile choice...I challenge you to go out in your life and make a place of peace and love."
Certificates of completion of primary education were then awarded to the graduates by Principal Maria Lanza and Vice-principal Donald Conners. Mrs. Lanza then addressed the large audience. She challenged parents, teachers and community members to work harder to improve our community. She congratulated the students on their accomplishments and reminded them that this is only the first step in what should be a long and fruitful education. She also thanked Mr. Conners for his years of service to education in Belize and wished him the best in his retirement. Miss Barbara Ancona then gave the valedictory address. She expressed her gratitude to parents and teachers and encouraged her classmates to strive for the best and to continue with their educations.
The "torch of learning" was then passed from the graduating Standard VI class to a representative of the incoming Standard VI. Six young ladies then performed a beautiful thanksgiving dance with the help of Tugs - the only four legged graduate. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks from Miss Jennifer Fiore.
