Exciting new development in the attitude of the Belizean government and the bureaucracy in Belize. The department of Education has always been rife with Turf Wars, easily injured EGO's, bureaucratic back stabbing and competition for very scarce financial resources. But a new outfit, called the ' Belize Trade and Investment Development Service' shows a change in concept and attitude. Whether it can ever come to pass, in a system, where turf wars and ego's mix with political influence from a single dominating political one party governing system, remains to be seen. But the intent has been expressed. We can only hope for the best. If no one tries, then nothing will be done. What 'Beltraide', as it is called for an acroynm wants, are Belizeans living and working abroad with Phd's, to become partially, or fully attached to the New Belizean University system. This is an excellent idea. In fact, it can do the Belizeans abroad good in their own fields and works, as such international works and links are prestigious in academic circles and credits. Belize of course, will be able to tap the latest exertise in fields that they lack.
