Wow Barn we hafta talk about you illustrating my bird book. this could be a female Painted Bunting ,especially if you've seen the male around. males have a blue head and red breast.
a lot of birds look like this and when its a close call like this one the bill shape is usually the give away. Tanagers have a little ripple this guy doesn't seem to have. Seed eaters have a seed eating modification of big upper ,warblers have small pointy, but not this guy, I think we got a female Oriole here and probably a Hooded .
