I'm fascinated with these. For years they where very illusive to me and now they are here every day. Cyanocorax yucatanicus Endemic to the Yucatan and Northern Belize.
It was distressing for me to see one of these guys and a green jay in small cages last week. They were both in a small village in central Mexico. The green jay enjoyed being talked to and he made the most enchanting sounds in response. I'm sure he didn't enjoy being in his cage, though.
all i have here are the brown jays,, at least that iv'e seen. and they are brutes! they bully their way to the chow hall and can cart off an entire big hunk of papaya by them selves!!
Sleepless in San Pedro? Just did I sometimes restrain myself from commenting about the South , but not often. sorry .It was obvious even back in 1986 when I came, where you where going to want to be.
