Golden-Fronted Woodpecker on Ambergris Caye

I suspect shes got an egg. Usually she leaves if i get close but this time she won't.
The woodpeckers presence in a coconut tree killing the tree is a fallacy. I've watched this tree with its 4 woodpecker holes for 6 years and it seems to only look better.
This bird on Ambergris Caye I shot this morning is a Golden-Fronted Woodpecker, Meanerpes aurifrons both male and female have red mustaches.

Elbert,

Thank you for the pic. I love watching the birds while on AC, maybe because I am one when not the Kat.

Thanks for the comments. I love this digital imaging stuff, big fun.
Barn, I'm suspecting the VR Stabilization being on when its not needed causes a little blur.Do you use it?

Elbert, are these sort of zebra striped on the back...similar to what they all a "red bellied" woodpecker in the midwestern US? Or a downy woodpecker? If so, I think I have one with a nest in the yard, but it's in an electric pole...

I have a deranged woodpecker that tries to drill holes in my zinc roof. He may need counselling. Any ideas?

elbert,,
to be honest, i have not turned on the VR much. it is on my 105 macro and i have not been getting that close to stuff to need it,,, yet! plus the 105 is a 2.8 so that helps.
i think it requires a little practice, getting used to, so i hear. after time it becomes better.
and looking at the photo full size,, i don't see much if ANY blur!!
i got 6 in. closer to the chachachlaca,, other post,,

Our Woodpeckers try to drill holes in the solid cement wall of my neighbors house.
I have had the Golden-Fronted and Lineated Woodpecks and I think a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker.

As far as I've been able to tell, the woodpeckers here that attack my outside stucco wall, are picking off bugs that I can't see. Now, I imagine that a woodpecker would have quite a bit more trouble with zinc, but they have managed to drill a few holes in my stucco. I've been busy from time to time applying plaster.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?
