Big Burn up North

I thought burning was illegal? Another potentially controversial post on my part from yesterday afternoon's road trip north. This burn was on the beach side of the road north of Pacos Bar and south of Captain Morgans. It sure didn't smell like "just brush". When, if ever, will our island get a DOE officer or any officer to enforce health, safety and environmental issues that unsustainable development is bringing? Is this what our community is calling child friendly?

Burning is not illegal. We are required to inform the fire department of a planned burn and it must be done when the wind won't carry embers to threaten ignition of fires that will damage buildings or other properties etc.

The smoke was not visible at noon today, but the smell was out on Coastal Express what 500-600' out at sea when passing the area. It definitely was more than "just brush" that had been burned. Wonder if anyone was treated for respiratory issues due to improperly disposed of plastics and other things that should not be burned.

Pretty sure the location is the former Capricorn site. The land is being cleared. If only we had some industrial-strength wood-chippers available for hire! Good fill, no carbon.
