DIRECTOR OF HEALTH SERVICES EXPRESSES SERIOUS CONCERNS OVER THE LACK OF PROPER HYGIENE PRACTICES AGAINST COVID19***
From the Office of Director of Health Services
As we go through the weekend following active cases, we are getting bombarded with photos, accounts and social media posts where there is clearly NO ELEMENT of PHYSICAL DISTANCING and NO PROPER WEARING OF A MASK in most instances.
These are being reported at crowded bus and boat terminals and at big parties being hosted prior to 'August 15th' - as an incentive 'before the plane lands'.
Please take note that we cannot anticipate that we are 'all safe' before August 15th or that we are suddenly all in danger after August 15th! As we go about our new routines / new norms, we have to assume that everyone we meet on the street is a potential carrier of COVID-19 and we must therefore exercise all prevention measures at all times.
The Ministry of Health is hereby calling on all to avoid mass gatherings, to continue to exercise physical distancing when in public and our time in public settings should be limited to ONLY ESSENTIAL activities - these should be in effect as part of a new norm and NOT ONLY when the airport opens, particularly in light of potential cases we may be exposed to as we move along.
Please stay safe all.
