The Coastal Zone Management Authority along with a clean up crew comprising students from St. Catherine's high school, St. John's College and teachers from Belize Elementary school this weekend participated in a clean up of Goff's Caye. As we reported last week the island sustained major damage as a consequence of hurricane Ivan, which never made it within 100 miles of Belize. As a consequence of the contrary currents and winds that Ivan generated, the beach was left covered with coral debris. But thanks to the work of the environmentally minded volunteers, the caye is now completely clean of the debris and the material collected will serve as data for the CZMA's records on the island.
