SAN PEDRO WEATHER DISCUSSION by Winston Panton (with
excerpts from the Tropical Prediction Center)

TODAY'S WEATHER

Relatively stable conditions will affect the North
West Caribbean including Belize.

Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Caye Caulker will
experience for the next 24 hrs:

Partly cloudy skies today and tonight. Isolated
showers will develop late afternoon and early in the
morning.

The high temperature will be around mid 80 degrees F
after midday. Today winds will blow from the East
northeast to east 10 to 15 Kts.

The sea state will be choppy. Seas will be 5 to 8
feet beyond the reef.

The outlook is for continuing fair and hazy weather
through Thursday.

Western Caribbean & Yucatan:

A SUB-TROPICAL JET IS RIDING ON THE N PERIPHERY OF AN
ANTICYCLONE FROM COSTA RICA TO THE WINDWARD PASSAGE
DRAWING UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE FROM S AMERICA AND THE
EPAC AND SPREADING IT ACROSS THE E CARIBBEAN AND INTO
THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC.

MODERATE SUBSIDENCE LIES TO THE W OF THE JET AXIS.

TYPICAL NE 25 KT WINDS WILL OCCUR ALONG COAST OF
COLOMBIA.

IN STRAITS OF FL MODELS ARE FLUCTUATING ON STRENGTH
AND DURATION OF ELY WINDS...THUS SEAS MAY BE 5-8 FT

Central Caribbean:

A STRONG UPPER HIGH REMAINS CENTERED TO THE EAST OF
THE ISLANDS NEAR 13N56W.
A STATIONARY FRONT LIES E TO W ALONG 20N E OF
HISPANIOLA AS FORECAST LEADING INTO LOW PRESSURE 1016
MB NEAR 20N65W.

S OF THIS FRONT ELY TRADES WILL DOMINATE THE TROPICAL
ATLC AND THE CARIBBEAN.

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND TSTMS ARE OVER PUERTO RICO AND
HISPANIOLA BUT THE BULK OF THE MOISTURE LIES 200 NM OR
SO NNE OF THE ISLANDS.

Eastern Caribbean:

A REMNANT TROUGH WILL LIKELY REMAIN IN THIS AREA OVER
THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS KEEPING A CHANCE OF RAIN IN
THE E CARIBBEAN THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE
WEEK...BUT THE DEEPEST MOISTURE WILL REMAIN TO THE N
OF THE AREA.
