Peninsula Citizens Consider Ara Macao Legal Action

A team of international and Belize attorneys met with local residents of the
Placencia Peninsula in two days of meetings on 13 and 14 December 2006. The
purpose of the meetings was to discuss procedural and substantive causes of
action that could be brought in court to challenge any form of approval of
the Ara Macao Resort and Marina by the Belize Department of the Environment
and the Belize Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Industry.

A legal fund to finance litigation is being formed, and interested parties
may contact the Peninsula Citizens for Sustainable Development for more
information via email to [email protected] or by phone, 610-4718.
