Stolen lobster tails leave N.F. Co-op $3,390 poorer Print E-mail

Burglars who broke into the cold storage room of the Northern Fisherman's Co-operative at Caye Caulker have stolen $3,390 worth of lobster tails.

The break-in occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning last week.

Concluding that the lobster tails would be sold in Belize City, where they can fetch up to $7.00 a pound, Police have advised the public not to buy lobster tails from those who go around settling the delicacy.

Law enforcement officers suspect the lobster thieves would go from restaurant to restaurant and from house to house to sell the meat.

But they may have overlooked the fact that a lot of stolen goods, ranging from stolen puppies to bathroom fixtures are sold openly at the southside market on West Collet Canal Street.
