Under the squating laws here, a Belizean could build a home on an Island, then apply for the lease and would most likely get an acre for himself. He then could subsequently apply for the right to purchase that acre.

The way I read into it is that any Caye land granted to a Belizean (not zoned) would be only as a 99 year lease in future.
