Standard bearer conventions continued this past weekend for both major political parties. According to a release from the United Democratic Party, Raul Rosado emerged victorious and will now represent the party in the next general elections against the incumbent, Florencio Marin, Junior of the People's United Party. The UDP release says that of the two thousand, five hundred and thirty sic voters who took part in the convention, Rosado garnered one thousand, four hundred and ninety four of the votes, while the other candidate, Servando Samos received one thousand and twenty eight. There were 14 spoiled ballots. Meanwhile, for the People's United Party, there were two endorsement conventions were held over the weekend. In Belize Rural North, attorney at law Arthur Saldivar was endorsed as the candidate that will challenge the UDP's Edmund Castro in the next general elections. Rodwell Ferguson was endorsed as the PUP's standard bearer for the Stann Creek West division, going up against incumbent Melvin Hulse of the Untied Democratic Party.
