Belizeans living in the Los Angeles area have come together to assist Belize. This past Sunday the Consulate of Belize in Los Angeles held its last major event as part of its Belize Disaster Preparedness Fundraising drive. According to the Consulate General, Hon. Roland Yorke, events like this were held since last November as an outgrowth of Hurricane Richard.

“Instead of becoming involved in collecting clothing we decided over an extended period of time to collect some funds to purchase small generators. We came to the end of it on Sunday and we are in the business of identifying the most appropriate source of obtaining these generators. We raised about six thousand dollars."

These generators will be handed over to NEMO in Belize to be used in times of disasters. Yorke extends his gratitude to Belizeans in Los Angeles who made donations to the cause.
