Rual Rosado, Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega and landowner

Ever since the United Democratic Party took up office four years ago, one of the biggest objectives has been to distribute land in an equitable manner where first- time land owners are given priority. And this government has not flinched from that objective. In fact, the Prime Minister, Hon. Dean Barrow, in his New Years Message, announced that the programs efforts will be fortified. Currently, all surveyors in the country are employed by the government to subdivide 4,709 acres of land for first time land owners.

The program is on-going as over 100 house lots were distributed in Sarteneja village on Friday January 6th. Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Gaspar Vega along with UDP Standard Bearer for Corozal South East, Raul Rosado distributed the lease certificates to the recipients, all being first-time land owners. This effort will be accompanied by many others to follow not only in that constituency but across the country as soon as surveyors conclude their work. The Minister of Natural Resources says that the effort is to ensure that every deserving Belizean receives a parcel of land.
