Locally Made Fudge

Fudge -�The original Belizean fudge is a plain square of dark brown, melt in your mouth, hard candy type of sweet. �The uniqueness of this easy to make sweet, is because it’s made with sweetened condensed milk, unlike typical fudge recipes that are chocolate or sugar based. �Through the years these absolutely delicious sweets have been concocted in many ways simply by adding your personal favorite ingredients such as peanuts, peanut butter, cashew, raisins or shredded coconut.

Cotobrute – Locally made candy

Cotobrute - Made from cut up squares of coconut, these delicious sweets are a sticky treat and it’s not as common as it used to be, as the making of it is considered a labor of love. Caramelized brown sugar holds it all together after considerable stirring. �As it cools it gets really hard, hence the name cotobrute. Dropped by piled high spoonfuls to harden into uneven shapes, this sticky treat is one of the many delicious sweets of Belize that is definitely a “must try”. �Be warned, this coconut concoction can be very addicting.

Tableta – Locally made Candy

Tablata - Delectable morsels made from coconut that is grated, baked and cut up into squares that are soft and chewy. The simple addition of sugar and ginger make these locally delicious sweets very easy to make satisfying that sweet tooth of yours.

Tamarind Sweet – “Tambran”

Tamarind Sweet - These delicious sweets�are locally known as tambran sweet which are sweet and sour balls made from the tamarind fruit, when it’s in season. �Once shelled and fibers removed, the pulp is mixed, rolled and coated with sugar to form candy balls. The taste is a wonderful blend of just the right amount of sugar to the natural sourness of the fruit. �These locally made delicious sweets make for a satisfying snack.
