WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Bonefish are the staple of our existence here. Even without these beautiful fish in such large numbers, we would still be left with an impressive permit and tarpon fishery. That by itself would make a for a great destination. With millions of bonefish, it's an unmatched destination for a potential grand slam. This week we had one boat with over 50 bonefish in a single day! Wow, they were busy! Also, we had a couple of big fish up to 5 pounds. 4 pounds is a big fish here with the biggest coming in around 7 pounds. Total pounds per day per angler is the highest I have seen anywhere!

PERMIT (Palometta): Marjorie joined us for three days of fishing, and she improved her skills. The culmination for her was a beautiful permit. Not a record, but a good place to start! Bill added to his lifetime permit total as did his travel buddy Don with two solid permit during their return visit to El Pescador.

TARPON (Sabalo): The tarpon were pretty active this week. Lots of shots, plenty of refusals, a bunch of easy, lazy bites and few smash and grabs! Mark started off the week with the first tarpon and returning guest Lanny closed out his week with a nice tarpon. In between Amy got a beauty, and Eric got a solid fish to the boat, Dave finally landed one after many near misses. Most fish were between 10-30 pounds. There were a few bigger fish up to 80 pounds that were hooked but got off right away.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook Barracudas, cobia, needlefish, barracudas, snappers, grunts, and much more

GRAND SLAM: No Grand Slam action this week.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Special size 8, Foxy Gotcha, and many other patterns.

FOR PERMIT - Mantis shrimp

FOR TARPON - White toad, green toad, Bruce's baitfish pattern, Orange Butt.

This Week's Summary:

It was a lovely weather week with a half dozen boats going out each day. There were a few divers, some sunbathers, and adventure folks who joined the fishermen. It seemed quiet after the rush of Thanksgiving even though there were usually 30 of us for dinner.
