Wolfe's Woofer: Get Rid OF Your Wife
As I took my seat at the taco stand I heard, "Hey, Mr. Dennis." It was Mario, my sometimes yard man, and his friend Juan. They ordered their food and sat at the big picnic table. "Juan! You don't fix the boards on the step of the screen door like I told you. You do them as soon as you get home. Don't even think about watching football or going out drinking with your friends." Juan's wife, Dolores, had tracked him down. She called him a few choice names before she left. "All that woman ever do is bitch at me." Juan said. "I wish I could get rid of her.'

'Sunday Dinna' in Belize is something very special and for every culture, the menu is different. While the typical dish today is rice & beans, stewed chicken and potato salad, Miss Saqui and her family are busy preparing hand made corn tortillas for their Mopan Maya Caldo. This is a flavorful broth made from either yard fowl or smoked pork, mint, culanto (a must) and annato served with either poch or corn tortillas made on the fire hearth or ko'bjen.

San Pedro residents hold protest over girl's death
Following up on their word, San Pedro residents held an official protest on the island on Saturday, calling for justice after the death 13-year-old Faye Lynn Cannon. The residents had tried to hold the protest on Friday, but because they didn't have a permit, they had to cut it short, gathering only briefly in front of the police station. Residents such as Shelley Hubert, and Gilda Swift, explained that islanders have been complaining for years about Cannon's adopted parents. Residents said that the couple, who cannot be named because, to date, they still have not been formally charged by police for any offense, has a history of abusive behavior, going back more than three years. Residents also said that the loss of life could have been prevented, but their complaints to the police, a social worker and even the United States Embassy, fell on deaf ears.

Embracing brutal honesty will be the path to change in Belize
Let's face it: most of us know that Belize is pretty much in a state of failure..even the people who benefit handsomely from the system as it is, knows this. More and more of us want and are calling for change, but we are ranting and railing and fighting people. The reality is: Belize's current politicians are simply a manifestation of a dysfunctional system.

Yoga teacher reaches out to Belize
Linda Toth can teach anybody yoga. But a plan by the director of Half Moon Yoga, 2493 U.S. Highway 6&50, aims to do much more than that. Toth's idea to raise money to teach yoga to people in Belize is not so much about having people learn how to do a downward-facing dog, a warrior pose or a headstand. It's about the social influence that learning and teaching yoga can have on others' lives, she said. "We're helping to facilitate a change in these people's lives that their government wouldn't let them have," Toth said about the project called Yoga Outreach in Belize. "Their lives will be changed. They will have a very accredited degree."
