From Belmopan...

The whole western Caribbean and the Pacific are in very active ITCZ swell-ups all over the place. Some of the swell-ups are due to ITCZ activity, others, such as those last night over Belize, due to winds and clouds in different directions at different heights, clashing with each other, which cause a lot of thunder and rain in many parts of Belize over night, I measured 55mm ( >2" ) in Belmopan. I may be right, I may be wrong, but it looked to me as if that bubble of north Atlantic air that came down over SE USA and crossed Belize yesterday and still blowing over us, may have caused one area of ITCZ activity to start rotating off Nicaragua. This, they have now named TS NATE although I can see much rotation, I do not see any high rotating winds, so how have they given this a name. ? Perhaps because you often get strong winds under raining ITCZ swell-ups. The rain in Belmopan last night and the night before both had high winds with them. However, when even a slow rotating air mass moves northwards, it can strengthen. So we must watch this, even if it is not actually a Tropical Storm, it could be very quickly.

Looks like much of today will be overcast from many chunky NE Caribbean winds and thicker high level SW cloud. So there will probably be many rain breakouts in any part of Belize today.

A lot of chunky Caribbean clouds coming down from the NE, and high clouds going up from the SW, clashing and causing many small pockets of rain, some heavy, more so in the south
