The Caribbean Sea

15-25 kt trade winds prevail over much of the Caribbean Sea, with winds to 30 kt and seas 10-11 ft just off the coast of Colombia. Strong SE winds prevail across the Gulf of Honduras. Atmospheric conditions remain very stable across much of the basin with only isolated thunderstorms along the Panamanian coastal waters, while widely scattered showers are moving across the NE Caribbean.

High pressure extending from the central Atlantic to the NW Bahamas will maintain fresh to strong trade winds over the south- central Caribbean through Tue before weakening. Strong east to southeast winds over the Gulf of Honduras will pulse again Sunday night before diminishing early this week. Smoke from agricultural fires in Central America will likely reduce visibility over the Gulf of Honduras for the next several days.
