COVID-19 UPDATE from Office of Director of Health Services

This is our data for today. A total of 189 tests were done today - 29 new cases were recorded today, this is a 15.3% positivity rate. They are distributed as follows:

Orange Walk - 2 (1 Guinea Grass, 1 from Chunox)
Belize - 13 (1 Belize City, 1 Lord's Bank, 2 Kolbe, 1 from OW Town, 8 detected at the PGIA, they are Second Home Owners in San Ignacio)
Cayo - 5 (2 Belmopan, 1 San Ignacio, 1 Roaring Creek, 1 Bullet Tree Falls)
Stann Creek - 5 (1 Trio, 4 from Bella Vista TOL)
Toledo - 4 (3 Punta Gorda, 1 San Pedro Columbia)

There were a total of 31 recoveries today, this means that 34.7% of our cases are active.

We unfortunately have to report another death today, this is in a 38 yr old-male from Guinea Grass who died prior to receiving medical treatment at the regional hospital, the diagnosis was made post-mortem. Our case fatality rate now stands at 1.59%.

Ministry of Health teams continue to work across the country and a further sweep is being completed at Kolbe Foundation today. For now, one patient remains intubated at KHMH's COVID-19 unit.

8 passengers who were tested for Covid-19 at PGIA test positive. All are Second Home Owners in San Ignacio, Cayo District.

We also note that yesterday there was a successful delivery via C-section in a COVID-19 patient, this was at the Northern Regional Hospital. Both the mom and baby are doing okay.
