Wednesday evening there was a discovery of a body some 2 miles off Caye Caulker. Tonight, more is known about the victim.

The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, but police were able to determine that the deceased was a dark-skinned man with dreadlocks with a US dollar bill tied in his hair.

The deceased has since been identified to us as 27-year-old Albert Cas James, aka “Luddy”, a fisherman from the Conch Shell Bay Area of Belize City.

James left Long Caye on Monday, and he was supposed to go on a fishing trip near Caye Caulker. He left on his trip, but he never returned. Yesterday evening, his body was discovered floating in the sea.

We got a chance to speak with his aunt today, and she told us that James most likely struggled with mental illness and that those he socialized with would often take advantage of him for it. Here’s what she had to say to us in an interview this evening:
