In collaboration with the Sarteneja Alliance for Conservation and Development - Belize and Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve two of Hol Chan rangers (Amilcar Chi and Edney Carillo) participated in training to provide the tools to improve the enforcement and monitoring capacity of Hol Chan. We are proud of our rangers and look forward to them passing this knowledge on to the rest of the ranger core.

The Seascape Collaboration in the Northern Belize Coastal Complex (NBCC) is well underway!

On Thursday and Friday last week (17th and 18th), our Natural Resource Management Team, along with our partners from Hol Chan Marine Reserve (HCMR) and Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve (BCMR), underwent Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) Training Level 2 - 'Planning and Intelligence Gathering', facilitated by Mr Julio Maaz.

This training seeks to strengthen the coordination of patrols and was accomplished through the support of the GEF Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP). We applaud the participants and we look forward to continuing our coordinated surveillance and enforcement activities across the seascape.

By improving collaborative actions within these interconnected protected areas, we are contributing to the National Biodiversity Strategy - Target C1: 'By 2030, Belize's natural landscapes and seascapes are all functional and build biodiversity resilience to climate change'.
