With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, Belize is seeing record numbers of tourists. The welcome boost to tourism saw more than 15 international flights arriving at PGIA on Saturday, November 21st, and on Sunday 11 more. Flights are not only coming from the US but from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.
To better accommodate this influx of tourism, last week Cabinet gave the approval for the Ministry of Immigration to employ six additional immigration clerks and to increase overtime pay for immigration officers from 50 to 75 hours.

Some COVID-19 health protocols were also amended, with curfew changing from 9PM to 10PM Sunday through Thursday and 11PM Friday and Saturday.

They also eliminated the regulation that required proof of vaccination to enter a restaurant. Visitors are reminded that wearing masks in public is still mandated, along with social distancing and hand sanitizing.
