I will be staying at Captn Morgans. What should I expect the swimming to be like. After looking at some photos, it doesnt look too appealing there. confused

Ambergris Cay is not for swimmers. It is for divers. If your not into diving..don't go

I disagree about that! We swam every day at AC! Just not from the beach. We swam from docks and a different one everyday. We stayed in town but went up and down the beach and swam wherever we wanted to and no one cared! The water was awsome, the fish were everywhere and we were visited by sting rays every morning and afternoon. It was heaven. Can't wait to be back!

Roxanne, wipe away that troubled lil face laugh My husband and I aren't divers, though we did go snorkeling for the 1st time. (Hope you try it!!!).

You'll not find miles of "low tide sandy areas" as with some other beaches, BUT best of all, you won't even care.

Your best bet for swimming would probably be off some of the docks if the beach looks kinda shallow or sea-grassy (is that even a word???)
and don't forget the pools.

the dock is great to swim off of at CMs. There is a boat-protected area deep enough to enjoy, but still touch-able when standing. I swam there several times daily and actually never swam in the pools (although my kids used the pools almost exclusively). have fun, it's a great place!

Captain Morgan's is a great place, we've stayed there twice. There are two pools, the main one that was seen on Temptation Island, and a newer one over by the timeshare units. The newer one has a swimup bar.

The previous posters were correct in that the best swimming there is off the dock on the north side. Get some snorkel gear because there are these adorable tiny fishes that swim under the ladder and the resort has sunk some tires and stuff to make an artificial reef to attract fish. Another good idea is to take a kayak over to the reef and swim around there.

(Be sure to have Charles make you a Dirty Banana drink. And OUR favorite place to eat on the island is up the beach at the Laguna Grill...try the Belizean Bliss!) Tell Primo that Rich and Wendy from Iowa sent ya.

Ramon's is WAY south of Belizean Shores.

Is Belizean Shores one of the pools you use on your walk that you swim in all the pools? confused

BELIZEAN SHORES is very NORTH, have to have golf cart. SOUTH is Ramones. But our BREACH walk is from BanyonBay to TheRoyalPalms. Great walk early am.
