a year and a half ago we actually bought a dedicated unerwater camera from Leisure Pro. It was a fairly inexpensive yellow jobber, (not reefmaster, but same company). All of our pictures come out with a scratch mark across them, and really doesn't take that great of pictures.

My new setup is a Canon EOS 20D with an Aquatica housing and a Sea and Sea YS-350TTL Pro strobe. SLR speed is really nice, compared to my old Canon S40 with the OEM housing and much smaller strobe. Of course, you have to sell a child to get this stuff. laugh

I've seen people get great shots with some pretty basic Sea and Sea setups and their reputation for quality products is very good.http://www.seaandsea.com/

See them at your local scuba shop...usually.

Now, if I could just get that focus ring I need for the 17-85 zoom I really like to use...

Don't forget strobe or good lighting. The quality of your photos are only enhanced with good lighting, no matter what kind of camera you have. Ensure the underwater casing can adapt and support some kind of lighting scheme.

scuba - Assuming they are all scratched in the same place ( hard to imagine any they are not, if all are scratched) sounds like ya got either a scratched lens or a burr on the film plane.

klcman - how would you fix this problem, or just forget it and buy another camera?

if its the lens - trash it. If not, open the camera up & take a look around inside. if the scratch is in the same place on your negs, place a film strip across the film plane and see if you can see any tiny little burrs, etc in the general area f the scrsatch. if so, get a realllllllllll fine emery board and try to clean it off. Then, get out the can of compressed air & blow the heck out of the body.

Run a test roll. If it's still there, make a lightweight boat anchor out of it and buy a new one.
