soph, yes the ATM's & credit card machines are affected. I agree with Chris, bring more cash than usual & travelers checks. Lots of us had to borrow money while we were there. Thank goodness for trusting tourists!

We left yesterday on Continental, just a small delay. They had to hand write all boarding passes and baggage claims, then in Houston they were standing at the baggage area handing out boarding tickets for all continuing flights. Gift shops at the airport in Belize were only taking cash. Everyone loosing lots of money due to not being able to use credit cards.

I'm not ignorant, but perhaps I should've phrased my post differently, then I wouldn't have deserved a DUH. I thought that flights would still run but with delays. We all know that this has effects tourism and loss of money for many. I need to just get there and take my sarcasm pills!

I just got a call from American Airlines, they canceled my morning flight to Belize due to 'civil unrest', however, they put me on a flight that leaves 2 hours later.....hopefully I'll get there tomorrow!!!!!!
