Daly Emerson - a 38 year old male who lives in San Pedro was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia last year. The disease cannot be treated in Guatemala, Belize or México. It usually involves a bone marrow transplant but treatment is sometimes successful.
A research hospital in Bethesda MD (NIH) will pay for all his treatment in the States provided he can secure funds for his transport, accommodation, food and personal expenses. His treatment could last up to 6 months.
We have already received a donation of an air ticket from The
Jeanette Anderson Non Profit Organization. The hospital has provided a list of hotels that will accommodate patients on a monthly basis which are on their shuttle route. Costs vary from $800 - 1600 pm excluding food.
We are trying to raise funds for Daly or alternatively a family in the area that would "adopt" him - "let him board" at a reasonable rate.
