Greetings Boarders,

Just a quick update on Saga's goal to purchase land for a new veterinary clinic and animal shelter.

Earlier this month the Saga Humane Society signed a letter of intent and placed a deposit down land close to the existing clinic (from which they must vacate in 6 months.) The purchase is subject to regulatory approvals, which should be forthcoming in the next few weeks. In addition to that the society has been recruiting for a full-time veterinarian to run the clinic and provide services such as Spay/Neuter programs to the community.

In the meantime Saga is still in need of many items to be used in the day-to-day operation of the clinic and for animal control purposes. A copy of the "Wish List" is noted below and ANY donation is greatly appreciated and supports a very worthy and needed cause on the island. Great strides have been made thanks to the efforts of our volunteers and supporters but there is still a long way to go.

Please take the time to visit "Fort Dog", the adoption center by the airstrip (follow the road west from the Island Supermarket). We always have great dogs, puppies, cats and kittens for adoption and thanks to Kathy Marin from Pampered Paws many dogs have been adopted and sent to the States. Kathy has the process down to a science if anyone is interested in talking home a "Pot Licker".

For more information or to donate go to //www.ambergriscaye.com/saga

Thank you all again for your continuing support!

Most of the items we brought, antibiotics, Heartguard, and Topspot were confiscated at the airport. We even had a printout of the SAGA wishlist. Better check what the customs requirements are to allow bringing these.

Did you declare the items at airport customs, XIIth Man?

Unfortunately, it pays to be dishonest when trying to be generous.

I went through the items to declare line when I brought drugs, gloves, scalpels, leads etc. to San Pedro for SAGA in February. While they were a bit concerned about the flea treatment, I just told them what it was for and they let us through.

XIIthMan,

I'm very sorry to hear that, all of those items are desperately needed and this is the first time that we've run into such a problem. We'll try and investigate to find out what happened to the items.

We did go through the declare line. My wife and I went first with no problem but our friends were behind us and were unfortunately carrying most of the stuff. Our only hope is that the supplies weren't trashed and will be used somewhere.
