Use your own judgement. Is the service exceptional? many places tuip share and if you want to be sure that special peraon is properly tipped, then go for it.
No matter where I travel, (if I should be so unfortunate as to book a place that actually adds tips on) one of the first things I do is try to determine how/who shares the pool. Taking care of the little things can make a BIG difference in your experience.

Many of the people we know here who work for the hotels or dive shops never see the tip money. It seems that places that say only tip at the front desk are the worst -- and even if they tell you it's a pool, it may well not be. If your maid or dive shop employee gives you good service, tip them personally!! They really depend on the tips.
I never take a tip or gratuity -I do not think owners should ever take monies over what they are happy to accept as a standard charge-mind you,of course, I am not American and therefore I do not expect to get money for nothing.
