My wife is a little freaked out about the prospect of night snorkeling. How can I convince her to do it? (Pedro, none of your double entendres please)

Just don't tell her my story about night snorkeling in the company of a white tip or was it a black one? I don't know it was dark!

It's actually very cool, though - see creatures ya never would likely come across in daytime.

And, it's less crowded!

Take her on a daytrip with Lil Alphonse and have him so totally charm her, she won't be able to say no to a night trip with him!

We have gone on night snorkels with Tulu the past two years, it is really an awesome experience. Eels, octopus, lobsters, trunk fish (really fun), both times we saw lemon sharks but they run away from the light. It is kindof cool when their are divers below you or coming toward you with their lights, kindof twilight zonish. This last time it was almost a full moon, so you could see even without lights the water is so clear, but you see more night creatures if it's darker.

Just go off Ramon's dock and you will see an amazing amount of fish etc. and the best thing is that it is free and all seen in less than seven foot of water.

Can't beat the night snorkel at Hol Chan. Been twice with 'Lil Alphonse. 2nd time we took our 19 and 16 year old kids with us. Any parent with teenagers can appreciate the pleasure of doing something that gets the teen to admit that he's actually scared....

We had a great time and after the first five minutes, nobody felt scared. The water's dark, you see different things - like lobster, octopus, sleeping fish, etc. - but it's no more dangerous that the day trip.
