Belize was notably featured in a 3-page article in the May/June 2005 issue of Endless Magazine. The article was written by Theresa Joyce, who was in Belize last year on the August Press Trip.
Her article entitled, “La Isla Bonita” showcased Ambergris Caye and spoke of it as being the largest and most developed of the 200 cayes off the coast of Belize. She went on to state that she met a woman from Cleveland who was on her sixth visit to Belize and stated that “the people are the reason I come back, so friendly so unpretentious.” The author mentioned that the population of Belize is a delightful mix of cultures and despite the cultural melting pot, English is the official language.
The author also elucidated that not only is Belize is famous for its diving, snorkeling, fishing, and a myriad of other water sports, but also for its rain forest, jungle filled with jaguars, pumas, monkeys, exotic brightly colored birds, and its citrus, and sugar cane farms. She spoke of her snorkel trip at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley and stated that Belize is among the world’s best, with clear waters for snorkeling. She also mentioned Caracol as the largest archaeological site in Belize and as the resident of black howler monkeys who expertly swing from limb to limb while their gutteral roars echo around the forested walls. The author concluded by stating that so much of Belize is untouched by man, which is its greatest appeal and if a traveler is looking for a calm, quiet escape to a tropical island in the sun, Belize is the perfect spot.
