We stayed up north in Dec. and regardless of what is posted they charge what they want to, the fee was not consistant with what was posted. Sometimes we were not charged at all during the day and sometimes we were (with or without cart). Most times at night it was usually a one time fee for round trip other times we were not charged. Last week we we're charged (at night)$1 over and $1 back, I don't recall being charged a "back" fee prior visits.

It's always been double after 8pm and unless the sign was removed very recently it's posted as well.

During the day if you're on foot you rarely get charged, it's more of an honor system. I've never seen a golf cart not get charged.

I for one can't wait to see a bridge installed as long as it has a 24 hour manned police substation on site. The ferry is a real hassle for those of us who have to get to the north side to make a living. I've had round trips that should have taken a 1/2 hour take over 2 hours just because of the ferry. That's fine if you're just heading home but not when you have a tight schedule to keep.

Having fun???
I guess you should count your blessing for every time you crossed and were not charged.
For those of you who are less suspicious - it is supposedly B $1.00 for pedestrians and BZ $10.00 round trip. Beware that round trip is considered the same day.

The only time I heard of a rip off was when friends bought a round trip going north one night and tried to use it coming south the next morning. They would not honor it.
Those of us who use the ferry a lot buy a monthly pass for BZ $150.00.

These are the rates the town board charges from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Other hours it is run by private enterprise and is BZ $10.00 each way for golf carts and they do charge the BZ $1.00 for pedestrians. That is one of the reasons that from 6:00 AM until 7:00 AM the ferry is packed with workers heading north. Anyone with a golf cart should not even think about trying to get on. The same is true from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM coming south when the workers come back. ONLY when the police are there monitoring the traffic do they obey the posted rule "golf carts on first."

The only pedestrians I ever see pay are tourists. I have never seen a bicycle pay even though they consistently crowd in front of the golf carts. It will be curious to see if, when (and if), the bridge is opened they will start charging these free loaders.

I think the bridge is a myth, to make some worry and others to hope.
This Bridge, if it ever comes, must equate to progress for the north, and could be the best for the caye in long run.

What, no one is interested in Bridge Progress,
I have heard about this for almost a year, been to sp, and heard that it is ready to put in place.
I wonder.
Does anyone know anything new.

A certain politician said in the newspaper that it would start going up in 2 weeks. That was a month ago, nothing seems to have taken place other than the removal of some old transformers but even that appears to be related to 3 lots going up for sale right beside the cut.

At the Chamber of Commerce meeting today the guy next to me leaned over and said he had just made a trip into the mountains. At one of the Mayan Ruins they uncovered a message that said "Soon there will be a bridge at Boca Del Rio."

Does anyone know if there are plans to smooth out the road to the north?
