Just wondering if there is any kind of sunblock allowed while diving the reefs. We haven't booked dives yet but will be there 7/9-7/23.

Thanks, Karissa & Bill...

I gotta admit I havn't really gave that one much thought. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I'm sure you are allowed to where the sunblock of your choice. cool

Thanks papashine. The reason I ask is we got open water certified off of Cozumal and they had restrictions on sunblock. There was an eco-safe one but we have forgotten the brand.

They claimed the chemicals in regular sunblock would harm the living coral. We are just novice divers!

That's the same thing we were told in Playa Del Carmen last year.

The Eco-parks south of Playa del Carmen in Mexico do police what sort of sunscreen you where. Either buy theirs, or use biodegradable. All that oil in the water with the regular stuff kills the critters we all want to see in the water.

There's a terrific sunscreen product that's chemical-free and biodegradable. Mexitan is all natural and would be an ideal choice for diving the reefs. Check it out www.mexitan.com
