My husband and I are planning a trip to Belize for next May. Why?..you may as am I starting so early? Because planning is half the fun for me and i CAN'T WAIT!!! OK...here are my thoughts
First of all, I am from Florida and can sweat with the best of 'em but enjoy a nice shower in a cool room and a cool bed at the end of the day so have decided I would like AC. This has influenced some of my lodging decisions.
My plan so far is to:
Arrive in Belize and then fly to Flores
Travel to The Westin Camino Real in Peten, Guatemala.
Not sure how I would get there. I have an email in to the hotel regarding transfers. I also assume there will be taxi's/shuttles at the airport. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Spend first night at Westin
Get up early and tour Tikal
Should I just let the hotel arrange a tour or would it be less expensive to arrange something on my own. Any feedback on how I would do this would be aprreciated.
Spend the next night at Westin
Get up early and head for the Jaguar Paw Lodge
They said if we got the the Mile 37 on the Western Hwy, they could pick us up there.
Soooooo...Any ideas of options of how we could get by land to that point??? Any ideas what this might cost me?
Spend the night at the Jag Paw
At some point do the zip tour and cave tubing
They have a couple options for tubing:
Half-day cave/tubing through the 5 caves.
or
Half-day Crystal cave trip
any ideas on which of these would be better?
and
How cold is the water? I havn't heard anyone complain about it but I'm afraid it will be cold to float that long.
